ASC as a Community Movement
The ASC has been functional for more than a year in partnership with Share and Care. The role and functioning of the ASC is a sustainable outcome of long term partnership with the community and a model for other NGOs. The ASC is facilitating the women's groups from 6 VDCs of Pharping to register an NGO "Society of Women Empowered for Development". The students are local residents from the surrounding VDCs. Most of them plan to become teachers and work among the community. Learning is no longer restricted to formal institutions and selected groups but has gradually become a dynamic and integral part of community life involving women, children, youth and those who have limited access to information. |
